O teste Short S.M.A.R.T é concluído com sucesso com o gnome-disk, mas o smartctl reporta uma falha de leitura

Adquiri um disco rígido usado da Western Digital de 1Tb e quero verificar seu status de integridade no Linux Mint 18.2.

Eu verifiquei seu status de integridade S.M.A.R.T e tudo é relatado como OK. gnome-disk relata apenas um setor ruim.

Eu fiz um pequeno teste com gnome-disk e foi concluído com sucesso.

Eu também tentei executar um teste curto com smartctl com o comando smartctl /dev/sdc -t short , e ele relata uma falha de leitura (lê a saída do comando abaixo):

Então tentei executar um teste estendido com gnome-disk e, dessa vez, ele não foi concluído com êxito. Ele falhou em 90%.

O disco rígido ainda é confiável? Esta falha é benigna? Como devo ler smartctl logs em casos futuros?
