Encontrou a solução. Na BIOS, o modo SATA foi definido como "SATA" (em oposição a "RAID" ou "AHCI"); Eu mudei o modo para "AHCI" só que desta vez notei uma configuração adicional pop-up que ativa / desativa o suporte ao Linux (por padrão "desativado"). Eu habilitei esta configuração, inicializei o backup e agora as unidades SATA são exibidas.
