sudo apt-get install linux-signed-generic-lts-vivid

no meu caso, porque tem UEFI BIOS e

sudo apt-get install linux-generic-lts-vivid

Eu segui este tópico para executar o comando ethtool -K eth0 gso off gro off tso off . Não tenho certeza se o comando ethtool -K eth0 gso off gro off tso off ajudou nesse ponto.

A minha conclusão foi que ainda é possível executar um apt-get upgrade mesmo se você não concluiu um apt-get update .
