OK, tentei instalar todas as dependências na árvore de dependências, e o mais básico foi:

tzdata-java_2012e-0ubuntu0.12.04_all.deb

Eu fiz o download de:

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tzdata/2012e-0ubuntu0.12.04/+build/3726497/+files/tzdata-java_2012e-0ubuntu0.12.04_all.deb

e digitado:

sudo dpkg -i tzdata-java_2012e-0ubuntu0.12.04_all.deb

Mais uma vez:

sudo apt-get install openjdk-6-jre

E agora no processo de instalação.
