Não é possível montar o HDD do laptop externo no laptop

Estou executando uma instância de baunilha do Ubuntu 11.04 de 32 bits instalada no laptop k53e . A máquina está atualizada. Eu tenho um HDD portátil externo que estou acessando através do rocketfish RF-HD3025 . A unidade não é encontrada com fdisk -l ou gparted. Eu vejo o seguinte com o dmesg:

Eu carreguei o Ubuntu 10.10 via flashdisk e ele monta as unidades bem. Eu também posso acessar o disco através do Windows 7. Parece ser apenas o Ubuntu 11 no momento. Alguma idéia do que posso fazer para montá-lo? Sou relativamente novo para solucionar problemas do Ubuntu.

UPDATE: consigo ver o dispositivo agora via lsusb. Aqui estão os detalhes.

Eu desisti de tentar fazer isso funcionar. Eu carreguei o Ubuntu 10.10 para poder pegar todos os arquivos. Enquanto estava lá, gravei o que o dmesg dizia quando a unidade carregava com sucesso. Espero que isso ajude alguém.

Solução sugerida:

Tente não permitir que umount faça uma chamada de teste inteligente para este disco.

  • copie o arquivo 80-udisks.rules do diretório /lib/udev/rules.d para o diretório /etc/udev/rules.d

i.e.

sudo cp /lib/udev/rules.d/80-udisks.rules /etc/udev/rules.d
  • Comente as seguintes linhas no arquivo /etc/udev/rules.d/80-udisks.rules que é colocado # no início da linha para que seja lido conforme mostrado

ou seja,

sudo nano /etc/udev/rules.d/80-udisks.rules

localização no arquivo:

As regras no diretório /etc/udev/rules.d substituem as regras /lib/udev/rules.d . Recomenda-se não editar nada em /lib/udev/rules.d e colocar regras pessoais em /etc/udev/rules.d
