Como restaurar a tabela de parções excluídas

Estou usando o Ubuntu 14.04, dos últimos 2 dias. Não consigo inicializar o sistema, mas quando verifiquei a conexão do disco rígido em outro sistema, ele estava mostrando a mensagem de erro abaixo.

Disk /dev/sdc doesn't contain a valid partition table

Quando eu chequei com o testdisk Ele estava mostrando toda a tabela de partições.
