Problema de instalação do PECL SSH2

Estou executando este comando:

sudo pecl install ssh2

Resulta no seguinte log e sai com um erro:

Como você pode ver, não é possível encontrar o libssh2. No entanto, quando eu executo o comando:

sudo yum install libssh2

Diz que já está instalado:

Setting up Install Process
Package libssh2-1.4.2-1.el6.x86_64 already installed and latest version
Nothing to do

Agora, estou assumindo que, por algum motivo, o instalador do pecl não consegue encontrar a instalação do libssh2. Como posso dar-lhe reconhecer esse caminho? Existe alguma maneira alternativa fácil de fazê-lo corretamente?

você pode ter mais sorte se usar o phpseclib, um cliente PHP SSH puro, para emular a libssh2:

Eu fiz yum install libssh2-devel e, em seguida, sudo pecl install ssh2-0.12 e trabalhei.
