Não é possível definir a resolução de 1080p no Ubuntu

Estou trabalhando no Ubuntu 10.04. Eu comprei um novo computador e instalei o Ubuntu 10.04 nele.

No entanto, eu tentei vários métodos encontrados na Internet, como usar o xrandr, modificar o xorg.conf para aumentar a resolução, eventualmente falhar e apenas 800x600 está funcionando.

Eu quero que ele se torne 1920x1080.

Ubuntu 10.04 O Lucid Lynx não tem suporte de driver para a plataforma Intel Sandy Bridge, já que foi lançado quase um ano após a Lucid.

Considere a atualização para o Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal ou qualquer distribuição que contenha um kernel Linux com a versão 2.6.38 ou posterior, já que o suporte total do Sandy Bridge foi adicionado nessas versões.

A Equipe do Kernel do Ubuntu oferece versões mais recentes do kernel Linux para o Lucid em seus PPA , mas suas O site avisa: "Não venha chorando para a equipe do kernel se ele matar todos os seus gatinhos".
