Um dos recursos interessantes do Cygwin é ser capaz de cd em uma máquina Windows remota em sua mesma rede:

Isso permite que eu faça muitas coisas relacionadas ao meu trabalho muito rapidamente, sem ter que usar o Windows Remote Desktop para se conectar.
No entanto, às vezes, vou trabalhar em casa e ssh na minha máquina de trabalho. De lá, gostaria de poder cd para essas mesmas máquinas da mesma maneira, mas não consigo:
[0 user@machine ~]$ cd //remote-machine/c$
-bash: cd: //remote-machine/c$: Permission denied
Eu suspeito que isso tenha algo a ver com o modo como o Cygwin sshd manipula os usuários ao se conectar através do ssh. No entanto, sei que é possível fazê-lo porque tenho um colega de trabalho que pode fazê-lo. Ele, infelizmente, não lembra se fez alguma coisa especial durante o setup do sshd.
Aqui está a saída do meu ssh-host-config durante a minha configuração (iniciou o Cygwin mintty como administrador).
