Como posso reduzir as conversões do ffmpeg?

Aqui estão as opções para as quais estou enviando o ffmpeg:

ffmpeg. -i input.flv -crf 18 -profile:v baseline -level 3.0 -pix_fmt yuv420p -preset veryslow  output.mp4

O vídeo resultante do ffmpeg está instável e parece ter perdido vários quadros, enquanto o arquivo do ElasticTranscoder é suave.

Como posso preservar a suavidade relativa do vídeo original e obter algo comparável ao ElasticTranscoder, se possível?

Eu tentei reproduzir com o Windows Media Player Classic + CCCP na minha área de trabalho e também com qualquer player HTML5 que o Chrome tenha.

EDITAR:

Ao reproduzir o vídeo resultante com o QuickTime player, ele parece suave. O WMPClassic tem problemas ao reproduzir meus arquivos ffmpeg, aparentemente.
