Usando o Win 7 bootsect tool

Question

Com bootsect.exe /nt** e: , assumo que, apesar da ajuda de bootsect.exe falar de "código mestre de inicialização", pretende-se aplicar o código boostrap da partição à partição identificada pela letra E: .

Considerando isso, quando a opção /mbr é usada, o código de inicialização mestre e o código de inicialização da partição são atualizados ou somente os anteriores?

bootsec help diz:

Bootsect.exe updates the master boot code for hard disk partitions in order to switch between BOOTMGR and NTLDR.

(Apenas no caso) Microsoft "código mestre de inicialização" definição é o padrão relacionado para MBR:

The MBR contains a small amount of executable code called the master boot code, the disk signature, and the partition table for the disk.

Sometimes the volume boot code, part of the volume boot record that resides on the drive that Windows is installed on, can become corrupt or accidentally reprogrammed to use the wrong boot manager. [...]
Luckily, correcting volume boot code errors is easy with the bootsect command, a boot sector restore tool only available from the Command Prompt.

bootsect /nt60 sys

O setor de inicialização mestre nunca é mencionado, porque por padrão o comando corrige o setor de inicialização da partição , de outra forma, setor de inicialização de volume , o VBR e não o MBR . Portanto, a documentação da Microsoft deve ser corrigida também, removendo a palavra 'master': "O Bootsect.exe atualiza o código de inicialização para as partições do disco rígido".

É claro que o comportamento padrão pode ser alterado e ter a ferramenta agindo no MBR também, e essa é a razão pela qual a opção /mbr existe.
