Como montar um disco rígido externo NTFS para acesso de leitura / gravação no Ubuntu

Sou um usuário do Ubuntu (Jaunty Jackalope em um Sheevaplug) tentando montar um NTFS formatado em disco rígido externo para acesso de leitura / gravação. Eu estava esperando para conseguir isso através do uso de ntfs-3g, mas há um problema ao tentar instalar este driver. Alguma idéia de como obter esse disco rígido montado para acesso de leitura / gravação e / ou esses drivers instalados?

Concordo com o m0skit0 para atualizar o seu Ubuntu (MAS duvido que você possa atualizar o Ubuntu para o seu Sheevaplug. Você pode ler alguns detalhes aqui: link )

Para montar o dispositivo formatado com NTFS

sudo mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sdb1 /media/external
