Problema com a consulta DNS usando whois

Question

O que o procura com "= xxx" para receber uma exibição completa para cada registro significa? A man page não discute um sinal de igual e recebi um erro quando tentei usar o = literal.

$ whois a.com

Você pode não ter colado em toda a saída (ou está executando uma versão mais antiga do whois client). Você deve ver que A.COM, o que você quer, está no servidor whois da IANA. Faça isso então:

$ whois -h whois.iana.org  a.com
% IANA WHOIS server
% for more information on IANA, visit http://www.iana.org
% This query returned 1 object

domain:       A.COM

organisation: Internet Assigned Numbers Authority

Se você estiver procurando registrar o A.COM, não pode. Todos os domínios de caractere único sob COM foram reservados há muito tempo.
