Eu tenho um laptop ASUS U56E que, depois de um tempo ligado, perderá a conexão sem fio e me dará um erro. Procurei uma solução (por exemplo, se houver um driver que preciso instalar), mas não tive sorte. Isso está acontecendo em uma nova instalação do Ubuntu 16.10.
A conexão vai cair algumas vezes e me dá esse erro. Ou quando iniciar meu laptop, ele simplesmente não funcionará e eu ainda receberei o mesmo erro.

Adicione isto:
options iwlwifi bt_coex_active=N
para /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf .
Use o comando sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf .
Tente executar o seguinte, se isso não funcionar:
sudo service network-manager restart
Se isso ainda não funcionar, tente
sudo apt-get purge network-manager
então
sudo apt-get install network-manager
Eu tive problemas significativos com o Wi-Fi em um Intel 8265.
A solução foi desativar o gerenciamento de energia no dispositivo.
Talvez isso ajude no seu caso.
Criar: /etc/network/if-up.d/wifi-powerman-off
Ativar: chmod +x /etc/network/if-up.d/wifi-powerman-off
Nota: substitua < < nome da interface > > com o nome do seu dispositivo wifi (por exemplo, wlp1s0 )
