Ah ... eu encontrei me responder:

Você pode forçar o MATLAB a carregar a versão mais nova da biblioteca fornecida pelo sistema operacional, seguindo estas instruções:

  • Identifique o local onde o MATLAB está instalado.
  • Navegue até o diretório sys/os/glnxa64 dentro desta pasta de instalação.
  • Renomeie a biblioteca libstdc++.so.6 para libstdc++.so.6.old .

Eu tive esse problema. mas depois eu instalei o suporte matlab o problema resolvido.

sudo apt-get install matlab-support

Estou usando o Ubuntu 16.04LTS em uma placa gráfica Lenovo ThinkStation S20 com GeForce 610 e instalei o Matlab R2016a. Eu renomei a biblioteca acima, mas essa correção não funcionou para mim. Em vez disso, mudei os drivers de vídeo da Nvidia para o Nouveau de código aberto. Matlab está trabalhando agora.

Estou com problemas semelhantes. Eu acho que o problema começou depois de atualizar o driver proprietário da Nvidia. Estou usando uma Nvidia GTX 750 Ti com a versão do driver 361.45.18 e a versão do MATLAB que estou usando é 2016a . (veja link )

Eu tentei instalar completamente e reinstalar todos os pacotes nvidia, mas isso não resolveu o meu problema. Então eu tropecei neste tópico, tentei a proposta corrigida por @ Yihui Ele (renomeando libstdc++.so.6 ). Depois de ter feito isso, o MATLAB ainda travaria, mas alguns segundos depois, após a interface do usuário ter sido carregada. Agora, o rastreamento de pilha do erro foi muito mais claro:

Eu sabia que havia uma opção cli para usar o software openGL, tentei isso e o MATLAB 2016a não bate mais quando se inicia com:
