No meu ASUS X540SA que originalmente tinha o Windows 10 instalado, eu tinha o Kali Linux instalado. Depois de algum tempo eu queria o Windows 7, então baixei uma imagem ISO e criei uma unidade USB inicializável. Eu coloquei e depois que os arquivos do Windows carregados eu tenho um BSOD. Dizia:

• Instale o FreeDOS e tente instalar o Windows 7 novamente

Então, depois que eu instalei o FreeDOS e depois tentei instalar o Windows 7, os arquivos do Windows carregaram e não havia BSOD, mas a seguinte mensagem apareceu:

Para aqueles que não querem clicar em e-e em um comentário: foi apontado que o laptop pode ter o Windows 10 originalmente, o que foi confirmado pelo OP. A mesma pessoa que indicou isso concluiu que não havia como instalar o Windows 7.

No entanto, ☠ MASQ ☠ apontou que pode ser realmente possível, seja usando uma porta USB2 ou incluindo drivers USB3:

Make sure your using the USB 2.0 socket for your installer USB stick - Windows 7 doesn't natively support USB 3.0 drivers

If you don't have a choice and have to use a USB 3.0 port then use this utility to merge with your Windows 7 installer image so the driver is added. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000017241/mini-pcs.html

Pretty sure you still have USB 2.0 support on this model though

You may also have to change your UEFI setup to Legacy.

But there are multiple reports of users successfully downgrading Windows 10 to 7 on this model.
