I went to Valve's Github issues tracker and someone advised to delete the
~/.steam/steam/appcachefolder. I did and Steam now works fine.
Eu estava executando o Steam bem e recebi uma atualização do cliente. Depois que eu o apliquei, o Steam não estava mais começando e recebi esses avisos e erros:

Eu tenho o ia32-libs instalado e executando o x86_64 de 3.8.0-30 genérico.
