APCUPSD: Não é possível encontrar o UPS em QUALQUER porta serial

Eu tenho o APCUPSD instalado em um computador com 2 portas seriais físicas. O no-break é um APC SUA1000 com uma porta serial. Eu tenho o cabo serial inteligente da APC conectado à COM1 e a COM2 indo para outro computador.

ls -l /dev/ttyS*

relata ttyS0 em todo o caminho até o ttyS31. Eu tentei literalmente cada uma dessas portas sem sucesso.

A execução de apcaccess também falha com um erro de "conexão recusada". Sim, eu editei meu arquivo /etc/hosts para corrigir a coisa localhost ...

Estou perplexo. Alguém pode ajudar por favor?

SO: Ubuntu Server 16.04.3 i386.

Observação: não espere que um cabo RS232 funcione com uma porta RS422.

Resolvido usando uma porta RS232.
