A instalação do driver da Brother quer que eu execute como root

4. Get superuser authorization with the "su" command or "sudo su" command.
5. Run the tool:
   • Command: bash linux-brprinter-installer-*.*.*-* Brother machine name
   • e.g. bash linux-brprinter-installer-2.1.1-1 MFC-J880DW
6. The driver installation will start. Follow the installation screen directions.
   • When you see the message "Will you specify the DeviceURI ?",
   • For USB Users: Choose N(No)
   • For Network Users: Choose Y(Yes) and DeviceURI number.
   • The install process may take some time. Please wait until it is complete.

Na etapa 4, ele pede ao usuário que execute como root, o que geralmente não é considerado uma prática segura ou recomendada. Se for possível responder a esta instalação de driver, não há problema em não executar como root e apenas sudo de comandos necessários quando solicitado? Ou precisa de raiz?

Em segundo lugar, as instruções assumem bash é o seu shell preferido (ou pelo menos, um instalado). Existe uma diferença se eu usar o meu shell preferido (ou seja, zsh )? Ou o instalador requer alguns% de builtins específicos debash?

OS é o Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
