Conexão ethernet hardwired não está chegando no Ubuntu 12.0.4

Eu tenho um laptop Toshiba Satellite P870 no qual a conexão sem fio está funcionando, mas a eth0 não está aparecendo na rede. No entanto, aparece no lspci:

O cabeçalho net_device do Debian foi alterado no kernel versão 3.8 e alguns drivers tiveram problemas. Eu corri para o problema com uma placa ethernet da mesma família no Ubuntu 14.04 e esses comandos funcionaram para mim:

wget https://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/projects/backports/2013/03/04/compat-drivers-2013-03-04-u.tar.bz2
./scripts/driver-select alx
make
sudo make install
reboot

Como alternativa, muitos novos drivers atheros estão neste pacote. Volte para a rede sem fio e tente executar este comando:

sudo apt-get install bcmwl-kernel-source
