como converter um arquivo mp4 para mpg com codec de áudio ac3 usando o comando ffmpeg

Eu tenho um arquivo mp4 e eu quero converter para mpg com codec de áudio ac3.

eu tentei:

                  ffmpeg -i input.mp4  -c:a ac3 output.mpg

o comando é executado sem nenhum erro. Mas quando em aberto o arquivo não há áudio. só mostra vídeo. Mas o arquivo mp4 toca com áudio e vídeo.

Existe alguma coisa que eu sinto falta ao converter para o codec de áudio ac3.
