Problema com a Reprodução Automática

Estou usando o Service Pack 2 do Windows Vista Home Premium. No meu Painel de controle (Painel de controle - > Hardware e som - > Reprodução automática), a opção "Usar reprodução automática para todos os dispositivos de mídia" está ativada. Mas ainda assim o AutoPlay não está funcionando. Quando tento abrir "Editar política de grupo" (Painel de Controle - > Sistema e Manutenção - > Ferramentas Administrativas - > Editar Diretiva de Grupo), uma mensagem de erro é exibida da seguinte forma:

MMC cannot open the file C:\Windows\system32\gpedit.msc

This may be because the file does not exist, is not an MMC console, or was created by a later version of MMC. This may also be because you do not have sufficient access writes to the file.

Eu procurei pelo arquivo gpedit.msc na pasta system32. Mas não havia nenhum arquivo com esse nome. Estou usando o notebook HP Pavilion DV2910TX. Eu tentei reformatar meu sistema operacional usando o processo de recuperação do sistema. Mas depois de reinstalar o sistema operacional ainda gpedit.msc não está disponível lá.

Esse problema ocorre apenas após a instalação do VMware Workstation 7.0.0 build-203739. Como posso ativar a reprodução automática?

N.B .: não quero desinstalar a estação de trabalho VMware.

O editor da Diretiva de Grupo não vem com o Windows Vista Home Premium. Você pode ajustar manualmente esse comportamento usando o Editor do Registro (regedit.exe). Instruções relevantes podem ser encontradas no Suporte da Microsoft , reproduzido abaixo para sua conveniência.

For operating systems that do not include Gpedit.msc, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. Locate and then click the following entry in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\NoDriveTypeAutorun
3. Right-click NoDriveTypeAutoRun, and then click Modify.
4. In the Value data box, type 0xFF to disable all types of drives. Or, to selectively disable specific drives, use a different value as described in the "How to selectively disable specific Autorun features" section.
5. Click OK, and then exit Registry Editor.
6. Restart the computer.
