O menu de inicialização do Grub não está disponível após a instalação do Ubuntu 14.04 LTS no MSI GE 60

Instalei o Windows 8.1 em um laptop MSI GE60; Em seguida, comecei a particioná-lo usando o GParted (redimensionei as partições NTFS) e instalei o Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS no espaço livre que criei / dev / sda8.

Quando executo o bootinfoscript depois de fazer o login no Ubuntu, a saída é a seguinte (veja abaixo, desculpe o recorte longo e longo). O problema que estou tendo é que eu não tenho um menu de boot grub que me permite escolher qual sistema operacional para iniciar (eu costumava ser capaz de fazer isso com 8.04 Hardy Heron e 10.04 sem muita dificuldade em um laptop mais antigo). Ele inicializa no Ubuntu por padrão. A única maneira de inicializar no Windows é pressionando a tecla delete quando o logotipo MSI aparecer, inserindo o BIOS e alterando o valor da opção Boot Mode Select de Legacy para UEFI .

Aprecie se alguém tiver alguma idéia ou sugestão para me ajudar a obter a opção de menu de inicialização do grub, que me oferece as duas opções de inicialização, para que eu não precise ir ao BIOS toda vez que eu quiser trabalhar no Windows.

Eu tentei a sugestão de @oldfred:

O seu Windows está instalado no modo de inicialização UEFI e no Ubuntu no modo de inicialização do BIOS. Os dois modos não são compatíveis e você só pode inicializar dual a partir do menu UEFI / BIOS e pode ter que ativar ou desativar as configurações de inicialização do UEFI ou do BIOS. O Grub só pode fazer o boot duplo de outras instalações no mesmo modo de inicialização que você inicializou o grub. Você pode usar Boot-Repair para converter uma instalação do BIOS do Ubuntu para UEFI se a unidade for gpt particionada, o que o Windows requer se estiver no modo UEFI

Mas isso não funcionou porque o reparo de inicialização não está atualizado para o 14.04.1 LTS (obteve algum erro no final). Então acabei fazendo o seguinte:

Formatei a partição que contém o meu 14.04.1 LTS e reinstalei depois de reiniciar a partir do BIOS desta vez mantendo o modo UEFI ativo e a inicialização rápida desativada. Isso funcionou sem problemas e apresentou a opção dual boot desde o início.

A resposta pode ser encontrada aqui . Seu GRUB está configurado para ocultar o menu de seleção do sistema operacional na inicialização.

Basicamente, o que você precisa fazer é fazer a seguinte alteração:

  • Adicione um # antes das duas linhas "ocultas".

Abra um terminal ( ctrl+alt+t ) e digite o seguinte comando: sudo nano /etc/default/grub . Edite o arquivo para que,

GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=0 GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET=true

torna-se

#GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=0

#GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET=true

Salve o arquivo ( ctrl+x e depois y para salvar) e execute sudo update-grub .

Quando você reiniciar, deverá ver o menu de seleção do sistema operacional.

Você pode obter o menu GRUB pressionando Shift enquanto seu sistema inicializa.
