Fail2ban não quer iniciar o servidor

Acabei de instalar o fail2ban no meu servidor Ubuntu 10.04.

Quando tento iniciar o cliente, ele retorna:

ERROR Could not start server. Maybe an old socket file is still present. Try to remove /var/run/fail2ban/fail2ban.sock. If you used fail2ban-client to start the server, adding the -x option will do it

Eu deletei o fail2ban.sock, mas nada mudou. Como devo corrigir isso?

Eu acho que o seu servidor fail2ban fechou inesperadamente (pode ser morto?). Verifique o arquivo /var/run/fail2ban/fail2ban.sock . Remova se existir e execute fail2ban com o comando abaixo:

sudo service fail2ban start

Você também pode tentar executar outra instância do fail2ban. Antes de executar o fail2ban, verifique o serviço com ps ax | grep fail2ban . Se o serviço não estiver em execução, você poderá iniciar o serviço com segurança.
