Como fazer o downgrade de um determinado pacote do Ubuntu 10.04 (php) de volta para o kármico?

Eu atualizei do 9.10 para o 10.04, mas infelizmente o PHP fornecido com o 10.04 ainda não é suportado pelo zend optimizer.

Tanto quanto eu entendo, eu preciso de alguma forma substituir o pacote PHP 5.3 fornecido em 10.04 com um pacote PHP 5.2 antigo fornecido em 9.10. No entanto, não tenho certeza se este é o caminho certo para fazer o downgrade do PHP e, se sim, não sei como substituir o pacote 10.04 pelo pacote 9.10.
