Jenkins não pode ler a senha do Github desde a atualização para o plugin do Git cliente 2.1.0

Atualmente estou usando o Jenkins 1.650 no Windows 2012 e atualizei uma instância de teste do Jenkins (clonada do meu servidor de produção) para 2,25.

Como parte disso, o plugin Git Client foi atualizado de 1.19.6 para 2.1.0 e agora ele não pode autenticar.

Eu tenho trabalhos que funcionam perfeitamente se eu fizer downgrade desse plug-in novamente, mas quando executados usando o plug-in atualizado, os trabalhos falharão. A saída de erro para todos é a mesma:

Não sei ao certo o que mudou com este plug-in para causar essa falha de repente.

No entanto, em resumo, existem bugs conhecidos com o Jenkins 2+ em um ambiente Windows com senhas de leitura que contém um caractere que requer o escape do Windows no prompt de comando.

Alterei a senha da conta do Github e isso resolveu o problema de autenticação.
