Todas as fontes de software do Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron são obsoletas porque o Ubuntu 8.04 chegou ao End of Life. Abra o terminal, edite /etc/apt/sources.list em nano e apague todas as fontes de software que tenham a string hardy aparecendo nelas:

sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list

As instruções para usar o editor nano são sempre encontradas na parte inferior de todas as páginas. Os dois únicos atalhos de teclado nano que você precisa saber são Ctrl + O para WriteOut e Ctrl + X para Saída. Quando terminar de editar /etc/apt/sources.list em nano pressione a combinação de teclas Ctrl + O e depois pressione Enter para salvar o arquivo sources.list . Depois disso, pressione a combinação de teclas Ctrl + X para sair do nano.

Em seguida, atualize a lista de softwares disponíveis.

sudo apt-get update

sudo sed -ni '/old_release/!p' /etc/apt/sources.list

Substitua old_release por hardy ou qualquer versão antiga que você tenha.
