Placa controladora PCIe SATA III RAID Linux setup

Recentemente, adicionei um Placa PCIe SATA StarTech 4 portas para um servidor Linux. A placa é conectada via SFF-8087 a um backplane Norco 4224 e 4 novos discos rígidos que gostaria de configurar em um novo software RAID.

A mobo (Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5) já tem 8 portas SATA integradas usando um chipset similar (2 x chips Marvell 88SE9172), que estão funcionando bem e estão atualmente configurados em 2 RAIDs de software separados (usando mdadm ) .

No entanto, o sistema não detecta os novos discos rígidos, e eu também não consigo entrar no BIOS para a placa controladora usando ctrl+M como sugerido pelo manual. Alguém encontrou um problema semelhante ou tem algum conselho sobre como solucionar problemas? Obrigado antecipadamente!

Nós finalmente acabamos descobrindo o problema, e foi estúpido simples - nós tínhamos o tipo errado de cabo.

Essa configuração específica requer um cabo Discreto para SFF-8087 (interrupção reversa) .

Estávamos usando um cabo de fuga para frente. Esta postagem post tem uma contribuição explicação da diferença entre os dois, embora do lado de fora pareçam idênticos.

Esse dispositivo PCI em quinto lugar da parte inferior não é a placa SATA da StarTech, mas um chipset Marvell de 6 Gbps.

Não vejo a placa PCI SATA listada. Pode estar com defeito e eu não duvido. Eu trabalhei em uma loja de informática no dia em que usou aqueles em todos os lugares e eles tinham uma taxa de falhas out-of-box de cerca de 10%. Isso pode ser um viés de amostragem, mas de várias centenas eu costumo confiar na tendência.

Certifique-se de que você não tem configurações em seu BIOS, desabilitando as placas PCI ou as pontes PCIe para PCI. Alguns programas de configuração referem-se a isso como modo "legacy free".
