Por que existe um arquivo /etc/init.d/mysql nessa máquina do Slackware? Como poderia ter chegado lá? [fechadas]

Um cliente do meu serviço de consultoria de TI possui uma loja de desenvolvimento na web. Ele está tendo problemas com um servidor Slackware 12.0 executando o MySQL 5.0.67. A máquina foi criada pelo sysadmin do cliente, que saiu em condições ruins. Meu cliente não emprega mais um sysadmin.

Até onde eu sei, a única cópia do MySQL instalada é a descrita em /var/log/packages/mysql-5.0.67-i486-1 :

Um aparte sem importância: Os usuários anteriores da máquina mantinham um diretório pessoal bagunçado. O diretório inicial deles era /root . Eu colei uma cópia no link .

Minha pergunta:

Qual é o seu melhor palpite a respeito de porque há um arquivo /etc/init.d/mysql nesta máquina Slackware? Como o arquivo poderia ter chegado lá?

P.S. Esta questão está longe de ser perfeita. Por favor, sinta-se à vontade para editá-lo.

Sua pergunta é impossível de responder. Talvez o administrador anterior tenha instalado o MySQL de alguma outra forma que não seja o oficial? Talvez ele tenha procurado o script de inicialização e copiado manualmente para /etc/init.d ?

Não há como saber o que aconteceu, a menos que você tenha algum tipo de registro de auditoria.

Até onde eu sei, todos os daemons possuem arquivos próprios em /etc/init.d . Basicamente todos os arquivos que estão lá começam com boot e param com o desligamento.
