Estou usando os drivers ATI de código aberto no Ubuntu 10.10 porque não consigo dormir com os proprietários (a máquina entra em suspensão, mas não é retomada). No entanto, com os drivers ATI de software livre, não posso ativar os efeitos da área de trabalho. Quando eu vou para Configurações- > Aparência- > Efeitos visuais e clico em Normal, aparece uma caixa de diálogo que diz "Procurando por drivers disponíveis ...". A tela pisca como se tentasse habilitar os efeitos da área de trabalho, mas, no final das contas, a mensagem "Os efeitos da área de trabalho não puderam ser habilitados".
Observe que o link menciona que drm
poderia appear
no dmesg, mas isso não acontece.
