Não é possível iniciar o servidor mysql

Estou enfrentando problemas para instalar um pacote de software que depende do MySQL. Durante a instalação, ele instala um servidor MySQL, mas, por algum motivo, o início dos serviços falha e, portanto, a instalação falha. Estou executando um servidor virtual Debian 7 (64 bits), nova instalação, sem plesk.

O MySQL travou porque não conseguiu alocar o 29.6G para o buffer pool.
