por que não consigo executar o comando screen no openshift?

Eu estou usando o redhat openshift e vejo alguns problemas agora:

a) por que a tela padrão não suporta caminhos que contenham muitos caracteres

/usr/bin/screen
[xxname-xxname.rhcloud.com ~]\> screen -S l

Um rápido google revela uma limitação antiga com tela, e também que os nomes de login openshift são bem longos.

Experimente o tmux em vez de uma alternativa. Deve estar disponível nos repositórios da Red Hat.
