Como instalar a extensão PHP xdiff no Debian?

Eu estou tentando instalar a extensão PHP xdiff no Debian com Apache 2 e PHP Versão 5.4.44, mas não consigo está funcionando.

Eu tentei o seguinte

pecl install xdiff

Mas tenho erros:

Eu acho que tenho que instalar o libxdiff , mas como faço isso?

Como não consigo encontrar nenhuma fonte que eu possa compilar por mim mesmo, tentei converter O pacote rpm do Fedorer com alian .

apt-get install alian
wget ftp://ftp.muug.mb.ca/mirror/fedora/linux/releases/20/Everything/x86_64/os/Packages/l/libxdiff-1.0-3.fc20.x86_64.rpm

Embora o processo de instalação não tenha lançado nenhum erro, tentando instalar xdiff com pecl , recebi o mesmo erro mencionado acima.

[ATUALIZAÇÃO 2] Eu tentei compilar da seguinte forma:
