Eu atualizei o servidor de 512MB de RAM para 1024MB e tudo funcionou.
Estou fazendo tudo isso a partir da conta do root.

Eu tentei montar um espaço de swap extra, já que o servidor tem apenas 512MB de RAM (metade compartilhada, metade "meu").
Eu instalei o software do qual o guia de instalação do passageiro estava dependendo.
Quando eu executo passenger-install-apache2-module e rvmsudo passenger-install-nginx-module eu fico todo verde durante as verificações e depois a última coisa que acontece antes que ele sempre pare por um longo tempo e depois me expulse da sessão ssh:

Estou puxando o cabelo, mas não ajuda muito. Não parece haver qualquer vestígio desse problema usando o meu google-fu, então eu estou supondo que eu FUBAR'd o servidor em um ponto anterior. Mas eu realmente só tentei instalar o rails, então não há muitas outras coisas nele.
Eu tenho ruby no RVM, se isso importa.
Alguma idéia?
