É possível alterar o máximo ou o mínimo que você desejar, além de adicionar quantos ou quantos forem necessários aos arquivos da área de trabalho do MimeType, por exemplo application/python

ou dúzias de outras variantes ... mas manter os tipos simples deve ser bom, por exemplo, application/python
e application/ruby
funcionam na minha instalação do GNOME 3.2.
