Como configurar o xorg.conf para o VNC widescreen no Linux / Ubuntu sem cabeça?

Eu tenho um Ubuntu 12.10 Box configurado para rodar sem cabeça. Eu consegui arrancar o X sem cabeça por um monte de tentativa e erro, mas ainda tenho uma falha:

Ao inicializar usando o monitor, tudo funciona bem, resolução widescreen e tudo mais, ao inicializar sem cabeça ele vai ficar com resoluções 4: 3, eu suspeito que tenha algo a ver com o driver vesa.

Especificações:

  • placa de vídeo intel HD 4000 (integrada i7)
  • ubuntu 12.10 (atualizações mais recentes)

Existe uma maneira mais fácil de fazer isso se você for apenas headless: Não use um servidor X padrão.

Eu faço isso com bastante frequência em caixas que quase nunca têm monitores conectados. Este exemplo usa o xdm no debian, mas eu fiz isso com o kdm e o gdm.

especifica Xvnc como o servidor X a ser usado com seu caminho completo e especifica a resolução na linha de comando. por exemplo, aqui está um dos meus / etc / X11 / xdm / Xservers de uma caixa headless.

e apenas para tornar as coisas mais agradáveis, criei o / etc / X11 / Xsession-0

Usando xrandr , você pode definir novas modelines. Esta linha é do meu ~/.xinitrc , ele é executado toda vez que uma sessão X é iniciada. Isso define explicitamente um modo de 1280x720 60Hz que pode ser aplicado a qualquer saída.

xrandr --newmode "1280x720p" 74.25 1280 1320 1376 1650 720 722 728 750

Em seguida, aplique-o com (também pode ser aplicado via .xinitrc para cada sessão automaticamente):

xrandr --addmode HDMI1 "1280x720p"
xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode "1280x720p"
