Parece-me que o sinal sem fio é baixo, mas isso não explica por que o wicd funciona.
Quando conecto meu laptop a um roteador seguro wpa2 , usando wicd Eu não tenho problemas de conexão.
MAS quando me conecto com o seguinte comando de linha de comando (conforme descrito aqui )

antes da parte do dhcpd no mínimo
