Duas placas gráficas no Mint & Ubuntu

Eu tenho uma máquina de inicialização tripla com o Windows 7, o Mint 13 (com o XFCE) e o Ubuntu 12. Somente no Windows 7 aparece a segunda tela conectada a uma segunda placa gráfica. No Mint e no Ubuntu, a segunda tela está em branco e, sob as propriedades de exibição, eu só vi na tela (a segunda tela entra no modo de economia de energia porque não está recebendo sinal).

Ambos aparecem em lshw (assim como a GPU on-board na minha placa-mãe, mas eu não quero usar isso).

Eu preciso 'ajustar' algo especificamente no Mint ou no Ubuntu para habilitar uma segunda GPU?

Se os dois monitores estiverem usando as placas nvidia # nvidia-xconfig -a as root:

 -a, --enable-all-gpus
       Configure an X screen on every GPU in the system.

página do manual nvidia-xconfig.

edit: Supondo que você esteja usando o driver da nvidia e não o nouveau.
