ping funciona, ssh vai timeout

Question

Tenho o ubuntu 16.04 (mate) em execução no meu laptop (10.197.1.xx) e na área de trabalho (10.141.200.xxx). De qualquer um desses eu sou capaz de pingar o outro. Mas o ssh vai tempo limite (ele não se recusa a conexão, nem fornece nenhum aviso ou mensagem de erro).

O PC e o Laptop em questão possuem openssh-server instalado.

sudo ufw status

O que poderia estar errado? Como faço o ssh funcionar?

sudo apt-get install ssh
sudo ufw allow 22

Esse é o mínimo. Ele permite tentativas ilimitadas de senha com falha em uma porta conhecida. O root-login direto está desabilitado (você ainda pode su e sudo uma vez logado). Se o seu nome de usuário e senha são adivinhados e a Internet pode ver o servidor, alguém acabará invadindo.

Por padrão, o usuário root não tem permissão para ssh de fora no Ubuntu. você pode mudar para

sudo sed -ir 's/^(PermitRootLogin) .+/ yes/' /etc/ssh/sshd_config
sudo /etc/init.d/ssh restart
