Na verdade, eu tive esse problema depois de atualizar o ubuntu, mas consegui atualizá-lo atualizando meu chroot

sudo sh -e ~/Downloads/crouton -n (chroot name) -u 

e se você não sabe o nome do seu chroot, faça

ls /usr/local/chroots

e seu nome chroots estará lá

;) eu vou monitorar este tópico se alguém precisar de ajuda

PS: se você tentar atualizar o ubuntu para o 14.04 (não atualize para o 16.04 ele não funcionará) você deve executar o primeiro comando na primeira vez que inicializar a versão atualizada
