O Ubuntu 18.04 não usa mais de 32 GB de RAM [fechado]

Acabei de atualizar meu PC com outros 32 GB de RAM. Tanto o BIOS quanto o lshw reconhecem a existência de todos os quatro módulos RAM de 16GB, mas nem free , top e htop visualizam a memória real.

Eu uso o Ubuntu 18.04 que vem com

kernel. Eu poderia postar essa pergunta no AskUbuntu, mas tenho a sensação de que essa questão é mais relacionada ao kernel e não específica do Ubuntu. Minha entrada de inicialização atual do grub lê

Eu também instalei o Windows (tm) para diagnosticar o problema. E o Windows 10 de 64 bits também vê apenas 32 GB de RAM. Ele diagnostica os outros 32GB como "hardware reservado", o que aponta strongmente para bug no firmware da placa-mãe.

Eu também confirmei que minha placa-mãe tem a versão mais recente do BIOS (a partir de 7 de setembro de 2018)

O problema foi causado pela configuração incorreta do slot de memória. Depois de substituir a memória em slots A2, B2, C2 e D2, exatamente como descrito por Mark Patrick, resolvemos todos os problemas.

Portanto, o moral da história é: quando o Linux (ou Windows) não usa toda a memória instalada (mesmo que veja os chips nos slots), verifique se os módulos de memória estão inseridos nos slots corretos.
