Como mostrar apenas o layout de teclado curto em i3blocks com kbdd_layout?

Eu quero mostrar a breve descrição do meu layout de teclado atual.

Atualmente, mostra

Layout English (US)

ou

Layout German

Eu preferiria EN(US) e DE .

Eu uso o script de kbdd_layout . Eu não conseguia descobrir como a corda é analisada e seria ótimo se alguém me ajudasse.
