Após uma atualização do Ubuntu de 12 LTS para a versão 14 LTS, o GRUB falhou ao inicializar. Com um ISO de disco de reparo de inicialização no pen drive USB, descobri que a partição do Windows ainda existe e pode ser montada, mas a partição de dados não pôde ser montada. Aqui a mensagem do sistema quando tentei abri-lo:

HINTS: Either the volume is a RAID/LDM but it wasn't setup yet,
or it was not setup correctly (e.g. by not using mdadm --build ...),
or a wrong device is tried to be mounted,
or the partition table is corrupt (partition is smaller than NTFS),
or the NTFS boot sector is corrupt (NTFS size is not valid).
Failed to mount '/dev/sdb2': Invalid argument
The device '/dev/sdb2' doesn't seem to have a valid NTFS.
Maybe the wrong device is used? Or the whole disk instead of a
partition (e.g. /dev/sda, not /dev/sda1)? Or the other way around?
Como corrigir esse problema e montá-lo novamente? Há muitos trabalhos por lá ...
