O 'poweroff' é seguro?

Então eu tenho usado o comando "poweroff" para desligar meu sistema Linux, tentei procurar apenas se isso é seguro ou não, principalmente as pessoas apenas falam de "shutdown -h now" ou algo parecido. Então, minha pergunta é: é seguro desligar o Linux usando o comando "poweroff"?

Na página de manual poweroff :

When called with --force or when in runlevel 0 or 6, this tool invokes the reboot(2) system call itself and directly reboots the system. Otherwise this simply invokes the shutdown(8) tool with the appropriate arguments.

O que isso diz é simplesmente que ... geralmente poweroff chamadas shutdown , por isso é praticamente tão seguro quanto shutdown -h now
