Não é possível conectar-se à ethernet em um modem a cabo

Eu tenho um modem a cabo Arris e meu laptop tem um Controlador Gigabit Ethernet JMC250 PCI Express . Não consigo me conectar à sua rede com fio, nem com o NetworkManager, o Wicd, nem com a linha de comando no Debian Stable. Eu tentei também rodar um LiveCD baseado em Porteus (baseado no Slackware), mas o resultado foi o mesmo.

Eu também tentei muitas vezes descarregar o módulo jme e recarregá-lo, sem opções, e também com as opções force_pseudohp=1 , no_pseudohp=1 e no_extplug=1 , mas sem sucesso.

Eu também tentei desligar o switch rfkill, porque eu posso conectar ao Wifi sem problemas usando o NetworkManager.

Graças a Deus eu insisti nisso :) Extraído dos fóruns do Ubuntu :

A saída ethtool diz tudo:

Link detected: no

O cabo de rede, a própria interface ou o que você está conectando está danificado / quebrado. O fato de você ter tentado vários sistemas operacionais, e todos eles se comportarem da mesma forma, suporta isso.

Basicamente, isso não é um problema de software.
