O Ubuntu 14.04 estava funcionando bem ontem. Eu acho que instalei algumas atualizações de rotina. Hoje, quando inicializei meu computador (um laptop ThinkPad x220), não consegui uma conexão com fio à Internet (havia símbolos de seta na barra superior indicando uma conexão, mas não consegui me conectar a uma página da Web ou ping google). No entanto, consegui me conectar sem fio ao meu celular, usando o recurso de compartilhamento.
Eu reiniciei no windows 8 e funcionou bem (ainda faz, estou escrevendo este post no windows). As coisas também funcionaram bem com um live CD do Ubuntu. Então, quando eu reiniciei o Ubuntu, eu não conseguia mais me conectar sem fio ao meu telefone.
Eu tentei excluir a conexão do gerenciador de rede e reconectar. Eu também tentei desabilitar sem fio (eu tenho um switch de hardware para que no meu laptop). Nem fez diferença.
Eu estou em um complexo de apartamentos. Eu suponho que há um roteador em algum lugar, mas não tenho acesso a ele, apenas uma porta Ethernet na parede.
EDIT: Eu descobri que se eu desabilitar o IPv6 eu posso fazer ping de endereços IP (mas ainda não acessar sites). A maneira normal de adicionar servidores DNS (através de "editar conexões") não funcionou, mas eu consegui fazê-lo funcionar criando o arquivo /etc/resolv.conf com a linha nameserver 8.8.8.8 . Mas eu ainda prefiro uma solução que não me obrigue a desativar o IPv6.
