Eu instalei com sucesso VMwareTools-10.0.5-3228253.tar.gz
na versão de lançamento do Kali Linux 2016.1 usando este guia:

- coloque
VMwareTools-10.0.5-3228253.tar.gz
em uma pasta na área de trabalho chamada "novo"
- em um terminal, execute este
git clone https://github.com/rasa/vmware-tools-
patches.git
- copie o conteúdo da pasta
vmware-tools-patches
na pasta "novo" na área de trabalho
- abra um terminal na pasta "new" e execute este comando
./untar-and-patch-and-compile.sh
- depois de terminar no mesmo terminal, execute este
./compile.sh
- extraia
VMwareTools-10.0.5-3228253.tar.gz
para outra pasta e abra um terminal nessa pasta e execute ./vmware-install.pl
- reinicie a VM
antes, executo apt-get update && apt-get upgrade -y
para ter certeza de que tudo está atualizado e instalei os cabeçalhos usando apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r)
.
Eu tentei muito tempo instalando-o e após a primeira instalação tive que desinstalá-lo primeiro, a fim de reinstalá-lo, mas eu não acho que isso pode causar esse problema, não tenho certeza embora. Não consigo copiar nenhum arquivo de / para o host do Windows 10 para o Kali Linux VM usando arrastar & não pode copiar / colar textos, etc.
