VMware Player: Erro "Nenhum protocolo especificado" após a atualização para o Ubuntu 14.04

Eu tinha instalado o "VMware-Player-6.0.1-1379776.x86_64.bundle" no meu Ubuntu 13.10. Hoje eu atualizo para o Ubuntu 14.4 LTS. Agora, quando tento iniciar o VMware player, aparece uma caixa de mensagem:

Before you can run vmware several modules mush be compiled, and loaded into the running kernel

Eu pressionei o botão "instalar". Mas obtém erro, não começa.

Então tentei reinstalá-lo digitando:

./VMware-Player-6.0.1-1379776.x86_64.bundle

Agora mostra,

Extracting VMware Installer...done.

Como posso iniciar o VMware Player, o que preciso instalar agora? Meu win8 está trabalhando com o VMware Player. Por favor me ajude.

Faça o download do novo vmware-player 6.02 , funciona bem com o ubuntu 14.04.
