Como lidar com um dongle 3G problemático

Tenho um antigo modem USB 3G e gostaria de saber se está a morrer porque não é fiável. Conectando-se dá o seguinte ( /var/log/syslog ):

Ele não funciona (isto é, não está disponível via nm-applet para que eu possa conectar-me à internet). Eu vi esse problema em duas máquinas Debian separadas. A única solução confiável para esse problema é reinicializar a máquina: (

Esse log se parece com o efeito que eu recebo ao puxar uma unidade USB sem desmontar e reinserir. Fazer isso também remonta o USB no novo número de dispositivo.

O seu modem 3G provavelmente tem um armazenamento embutido (para o driver (windows)), então se isso acontecer sem você tirar o modem, isso pode indicar contatos ruins no conector USB ou uma conexão quase quebrada dentro do modem .

Eu tentaria limpar os conectores com um cotonete (achatado, se possível, se tivesse tubo de plástico oco), com uma quantidade muito pequena de álcool.

Se algo estiver (quase) quebrado dentro do modem, provavelmente há pouco que você possa fazer. Eu não vi nenhum que você não teria que abrir, porque nenhum deles tinha parafusos acessíveis. Eu quebrei um modem HUAWEI aberto e ele não iria remontar, e eu não consegui fazer nenhuma solda significativa no pequeno painel interno.
