Resolução de tela e Unity: eram perfeitos antes de reiniciar

Question

Hoje reinicializei meu sistema, após um uptime de mais de 11 dias (suspendendo uma vez por dia) e depois de uma atualização há alguns dias que envolvia o fglrx, para ver que a resolução da tela mudou.

Em "Displays" nas configurações, havia apenas duas opções de resolução: 1024x768 e 800x600.

Além disso, todos os ícones do lançador eram maiores (eu os tinha menores que o padrão usando o MyUnity). Ao abrir o MyUnity recebi a seguinte mensagem:

  

Seu Ubuntu 12.04 está sendo executado no modo 2D.   Muitos recursos não estarão disponíveis.

Eu tentei reiniciar várias vezes sem nada mudar. Eu tentei instalar o mesa-utils como por link mas nada mudou também.

Eu finalmente removi o arquivo de configuração do xorg de acordo com o link :

sudo mv /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.nvidia

Quando eu reiniciei a resolução voltou ao normal e as outras resoluções reapareceram em "Displays".

A questão que permanece é que estou preso em 2D. Como posso voltar ao modo normal? (E sim eu fiz logout e selecione "Unity" em vez de "Unity 2D")

Além disso, alguém pode ajudar a explicar por que isso ocorreu?

Informações técnicas: NVIDIA GF119 [GeForce GT 520M], ATI RV730 XT [Mobility Radeon HD 4670, Ubuntu 12.04.4, kernel 3.2.0-58-genérico.

Mas meu caso é um laptop; Não consigo atualizar meu cartão.

Você já tentou isso? Escolha o padrão graphicsn no software e atualizações, guia de drivers adicionais, selecione: usando x.org X servidor, em seguida, reinicie. Uma vez recarregado, volte e selecione o fglrx (proprietário) e reinicie novamente. Isso deve resolver o problema.
